food here was great. our server is well versed with the menu and will tell you everything on the menu with great detail. it is little bit on the pricey side, however the special occasions need to be met with expensive food. so why the 4 stars and not 5? Although the meat was amazing, i didnt think it was worth 55 dollars worth. but overall a pleasant experience.

Walked in on Friday 3/6/2015 at 740pm and the host told me 40min- 1hrs wait. I say ok here my phone number. At 835pm check if my table was ready and the host say no, not untill 925pm. So i waited, came by at 920pm and they told me not yet! We will text you when the table for 2 is ready. At this point i dont even feel like eating here! So, So I decided to walk around and see how long they gonna text me back. Never got the text. This location need to train their "host" on Time management. Im not coming back to this location

Amazing experience. We came here for my birthday and from the cocktails to dessert everything was perfection and delicious. The ambiance was romantic and sexy and the service was spot on. We brought some high-end bottles of wine for the table as there was 6 of us but it was worth it even with the $35 corkage per bottle. I can not wait to go back for the next special occasion. I'm hooked!

For my last meal of 2013, I had the pleasure of eating at Mastro's. This is a fancy steakhouse, so dress up a little! There is valet parking ($6) - not sure if there is a parking structure near by though. If you don't have cash on you, don't fret.. you can pay for valet at the bar inside. Our hostess and server were both very attentive and wonderful. The place is pretty huge! There was seating in the front, back, outside (which was covered so it wasn't cold), and upstairs. - Apple Martini and Lemon Drops: served on dry ice, so this was pretty cool! - Half a dozen Oysters: it comes out in an unusually large tub of ice.. it was probably what they use for a dozen oysters? Oysters were good, but they weren't anything too special. - Petite Filet (8oz): it looks small, but it was delicious and filling. Perfect for a petite girl... ;) - Brussel Sprouts: most people do not like brussel spouts, but these you HAVE to try! They have a nice crispy outer skin and perfectly cooked insides. (They're not soggy at all.) - Lobster Mac N Cheese: not on the menu, but you can order this... and you really should! The mac n cheese melts in your mouth, and when you get a piece of lobster... happiness is upon you! By the end of our meal, we were all stuffed, so we decided not to get the famous butter cake. Luckily for us, the couple seated next to us kept raving about how awesome the cake is and offered us some. It was warm and rich! I definitely don't think two people can finish eating one cake by themselves, so if you're with a party of four, go for it! For our party of four, our bill came out to be a little over $500. This included around 6-7 drinks, a bottle of champagne (cause hey, it was New Year's Eve!), calamari, oysters, steaks for everyone, brussel sprouts, and lobster mac n cheese. If you want to go on a fancy date or have a celebratory dinner, this is definitely the place to go to!

New Years Eve dinner with my wife. Seated a few minutes after our reservation time. Great considering it is NY Eve, however the hostess took us to a seating area that is normally an enclosed outside patio area. One heater for this large space and needless to say it was one of the coldest nights of the year, low 40's. Their one heater was placed next to a table and the couple seated there asked for it to be turned off as they were hot. Of course everyone else was freezing. My wife and I as well as everyone else in the room ate with their heavy coats on. Extremely poor planning on the restaurant managers part. This was our first time at this restaurant and the food was only OK. Our shrimp cocktail appetizer was very tasty and presented well. My wife started with the French onion soup and she said it was not hot and tasted bland with little onion flavor. My wedge salad was ok. We had steaks with sides of mushrooms and mashed potatoes. Pretty bland steaks, I had the bone in rib eye and my wife had the filet. Nothing exceptional, comparable to a mid priced steakhouse. I have had better at Sterlings or the old Mortons and even Ruth Christe. The shrooms were very good as was the mashed potatoes. Service was very good, and wait staff was very attentive however. The cold damp room spoiled the evening and while I wanted to try one of their dessert offerings, I was too cold and only wanted to get out of there. Would I go back ? probably not. Interestingly, while we didn't complain, our waitress kept apologizing for the state of the room. A neighboring table did complain vociferously about the cold and the food and asked to see a manager several times and the manager never came to the table. They were extremely unhappy.

Good if you like steak that tastes rotten. This place takes "aged steaks" to another level. I had the 22 oz. bone-in ribeye medium rare. I thought they age steaks to tenderize them. Then why did they chew like grilled rubber? I had high hopes for this place. Try Fleming's if you haven't already. Theirs taste much better. Btw, mastro's ocean club in Newport is better than this one in Costa Mesa. Again, not-so-aged steaks.

It just should be better! We sat at a high top in the bar - and watched servers go by with water- but not stop to pour us any. Finally got water and menus...then had to ask bus boy to find the server so we could place our order. Salad- wrong- then with mealy tomatoes 2 sides Luke warm Bill - wrong The music was good....

Excellent service, amazing steaks. Go here! That is all I went with the boyfriend to celebrate our recent new job and promotion and it was the best celebration I could think of! The crab cocktail was simply amazing and flavorful. I had the 8 oz wagyu steak - I will never any other kind of steak!

Yay! They lowered their fee for parking!! It is now at least in line with their Crystal Cove location. Excellent attentive service and a rockin' duo at the baby grand piano. Mastro's always gets it right. Their preparation of their steak has really improved and the cream corn is the bomb.

The best! Not cheap for those of you on a budget, plan on spending $100-$150 per person or more if you get into the wine list. Portions are very generous. Really sides are for 2 people as well as the buttercake. Don't leave without having the buttercake! If you were deciding between Ocean's Club Newport or this location in Costa Mesa, pick Costa Mesa. I've been to both and this one wins.

If I can choose my last meal on Earth, I wouldn't even hesitate to choose Mastros! I've been there with my boyfriend more than 10 times already and their food/service has never ceased to amaze me! First class dining experience for sure. Must order: Lobster Mashed Potatoes: Flown in lobster from Boston every morning? Heck yeah. Creamed Corn: OMG SO GOOD. Stuffed Mushrooms: SO SO SO GOOD. Bone-in Fillet Mignon: Duh, the meat attached to the bone marrow is the best. Lambchops: To die for. Seafood tower: Heaven! And don't even get me started on dessert! Best place for any type of occasion. We event went there for cheat meals haha.
